Dr. Anatasiya or a member of her team thoroughly examines your mouth to confirm if your teeth fit the criteria for whitening. That means looking for any cavities, plaque or gum disease. She may even order a free X-ray for the examination. This is also when she’ll discuss your specific color and whitening goals.
All plaque and tartar are cleaned up to make way for the whitening gel. This is also when any crowns or bridges are removed due to the whitening gel’s ineffectiveness in changing their color.
A protective guard will then be placed over your gums and lips to protect them from the whitening gel.
A high concentration hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide gel is applied to your teeth. In some cases, this gel may need to be activated with a special light or laser.
The gel is then left on the teeth for approximately 15-30 minutes to monitor its effects. Once Dr. Anastasiya confirms that everything is progressing safely and effectively, the gel is reapplied. After two or so hours, the gel is removed and your mouth is rinsed thoroughly. One of the dentists may even apply a fluoride treatment to reduce sensitivity.
