Here at Smile Lab in Union Square, Manhattan, we take the utmost precautions to ensure the safety of every one of our patients. We’re also transparent with our patients when it comes to explaining the veneer creation and placement process.
Here’s a closer look at Dr. Parsa’s precise and specialized porcelain veneer placement process.
We begin by conducting a full and thorough examination of your mouth to identify the discolored teeth and evaluate their condition. A full evaluation may require full mouth X-rays and 3D imaging. After determining a plan of action Dr. Parsa will discuss your treatment plan with you in full to get your seal of approval.
Before an impression can be taken, the excess enamel is shaved off to make room for the veneer. Local anesthesia is applied before this step to ensure you don’t feel any pain or discomfort.
After the excess enamel is shaved off, Dr. Parsa’s team will use a general putty to capture an impression of the affected teeth. Also, the color of the adjacent teeth is matched to a shade guide that’s used to determine the color of the veneer. Both the impression and shade guide are then sent to the lab for the creation of the permanent veneer.
While you’re waiting for your permanent veneer to be created in the lab, Dr. Parsa will create some temporary veneers chairside for you to wear. These veneers only last temporarily, for a few weeks only.
On your second visit, once your permanent veneers come back from the lab, Dr. Parsa will once again check if their color matches that of the rest of your teeth and then carefully fit the veneers over the affected teeth until they are properly in place.

Although smile lab is new to me the location and my doctor are not. Luis, Kat, and Eleni were all fabulously hospitable and accommodating to all of my administrative needs during my appointment this afternoon. Dr. Parsa Basseri is probably the most meticulous dentist when it comes to having attention to detail! I am grateful to the entire team including everyone not directly mentioned for how you helped to address my front central #8. I’ll be back in two weeks for my permanent veneer. I’m not someone who’s easily satisfied but I’m leaving a happy girl again!

I needed a veneer replaced , Emergency! , and I have to say I was so well taken care of by the entire team. Everyone was so down to earth and pleasant. The Dentist did an amazing job and made sure I was as comfortable as possible. The assistants were very sweet as they ensured I was entertained by a movie and cool tv show recommendations! I highly recommend this place and team of awesome professionals

The facilities are state of the art, the team is warm and welcoming, and (most importantly) I found the quality of care to be exceptional. Dr. Basseri was meticulous, comprehensive, and patient in his approach, focusing on long-term, minimally invasive care. What really stood out to me is his impeccable bedside manner, so thorough and empathetic. My previous clinic was a popular “chain”, and they often tried to sell me expensive services that I didn’t need, but it really feels to me that the team at Smile Lab care about doing things right.

Go to smile lab!!! It is the best dentist experience I’ve ever had. Nervous putting this online because no one can tell I did anything cosmetic, but I can’t help but sing the praises of this place. I recently had a large cosmetic rebuild of my smile and chose Smile Lab to do it. Am over the moon happy with how it came out. My biggest fear was looking like I’d had my ‘teeth done’, but they look so natural that even my closest friends couldn’t tell, until I told them. Their reactions were more like, “wow, your smile is really popping right now” or “you are looking very handsome right now”. In other words, the surgery did exactly what I wanted it to. My smile looks completely natural and beautiful, and 1000x better than it was before. Dr. Abrahimi is a genius at this stuff. Him and the smile lab staff make me feel like superstar every time I come in. He’s also hip to all the cutting edge science in dentistry and is constantly implementing new practices to his regimen. Whether it be for a simple cleaning or a large surgery, go to this place! You will not regret it!

Amazing experience at the Smile lab! Everyone was friendly and super efficient. I went in for a cosmetic consultation for an Enameloplasty concern. Not only was I in and out within 45 minutes! (including consultation and procedure and filling out forms) they gave me EXACTLY what I requested. No pushing to change my opinion for something bigger and more expensive. I personally HATE the dentist and have a very small tolerance for pain and this experience was…. If I may say enjoyable! Thank you again to all the folks at the Smile lab.
As good as porcelain veneers are in hiding the stains and discoloration in your teeth, the actual placement process can have plenty of complications that may require additional operations. The most catastrophic of these is when the veneer coming out of the lab has a different color and texture than the rest of the patient’s natural teeth, and the dentist accidentally places it in place before realizing the difference.
To put it plainly, you need a certified dentist, that’s an expert in his craft and is experienced in handling any and every complication, even if it requires surgical intervention.
